We created history when we founded NWIAA - Arkansas! The first and only agriculture organization in Arkansas for black women. We embrace all of our siters and brothers in Ag and are grateful for the support from the community and the industry. After realizing the staggering low numbers for black women and youth as farm producers in a state where the largest industry is agriculture, we are on a mission to make sure every black woman and the youth that want to be a part of the future of food production has a fair chance with the advocacy and sisterhood they need. We are listed on the USDA site for Minority and Women farmers here: https://www.fsa.usda.gov/programs-and-services/farm-loan-programs/minority-and-women-farmers-and-ranchers/index
Arkansas Ag Women is the Arkansas chapter of the National Women in Agriculture Association (NWIAA). NWIAA, founded in 2008, is the largest agricultural organization for minority women in the world, and is committed to providing equality and sustainable opportunities for women farmers and at-risk youth. The Arkansas chapter focuses on Agricultural Economics (Agri-nomics), Education and Equity, Health and Wellness, Urban Farming in underserved areas, and Community Empowerment.
We look forward to partnering with each of you in membership, as well as collaborating with other organizations and groups to achieve our goals all while making a positive impact on climate change and human food consumption. Yours in Ag! NWIAA Arkansas. Contact us at aragwomen@gmail.com
Kesha Cobb, founder Arkansas Ag Women, launches a national "1 Million Black Women in Ag" campaign on March 24th for the congressionally delegated 'National Women in Agriculture' day.
"With a goal of expanding equity and inclusion to the most disadvantaged of the underserved farmers in America, the attribute of 1 Million Black Women into the industry of agriculture will do so much more than grow food. Black Women in Ag Inc. could grow the future of America's food, fuel and fiber for a sustainable economy and world trade." Kesha Cobb
